Current Projects
Our website provides a central resource for information
grief support, child safety seats, vehicle ratings, and
other topics of interest to crash survivors and those who
wish to be survivors.
We will be focusing on a public awareness campaign in
2006. Currently trauma centers local to Flint, MI are
using our site as a resource to their patients. We would
like to expand this to all of Michigan and, in time, the
whole of the States.
We will be producing down-loadable resource pamphlets for
use by trauma centers and funeral homes. These are
important for persons without web access or computer
skills.
We will be advocating booster seat use. This will
involve placing life-size stand-up posters of booster seat
aged kids in prominent locations such as hospitals and
shopping malls. The posters will feature the slogan "my
booster seat - it makes the seat belt fit my body!" and
provide child passenger safety flyers.
We are educating future family practice and pediatric
physicians in vehicle occupant protection and child
passenger safety so that they will be better prepared to
counsel their patients. This is happening today through
lectures to local resident groups. We hope to persuade
the American Academy of Pediatics to require education in
child occupant protection for their board certification.
We will be promoting child passenger safety by making
grants to organizations involved in activities that
provide pubic education in vehicle safety.
